Mitt Romney To Campaign In Westmoreland Co.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney returns to the region on Tuesday afternoon -- this time to North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, where the former governor will visit Horizontal Wireline Services.
"I think he's going to talk more about how middle class Americans are suffering and President Obama's policies are just not helping them," Romney state spokeswoman Kate Meriwether told KDKA Political Editor Jon Delano.
"His political pals are doing fine. America is not doing fine, especially middle class Americans in the energy sector who see firsthand what the Obama economy and increased regulations on energy are doing to jobs in the area."
It's Romney's fourth visit to the region since April -- appearing first in Bethel Park at a picnic roundtable with some supporters, then at a CONSOL Energy facility in South Park and most recently at Saureisen in O'Hara where he attacked President Obama's energy policies.
As the Republicans did when President Obama was in town, Democrats sent a surrogate to Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh native, former Iowa governor and now Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack criticized Romney's tax cuts for the wealthy and said it was appropriate to ask about Romney's role in outsourcing jobs at Bain Capital.
"He was the sole shareholder, he was the CEO, he was president and he was chairman of the board after 1999. Now the man on the street is going to have a hard time believing that he didn't have something to do with that company, but he can basically show it by disclosing information," added Vilsack.
Following the event in Westmoreland County, Romney will hold a private fund raiser at the Duquesne Club.
