Wisconsin Reporters On Wisconsin Football Job: "If Chryst Wants It, It's His"
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Milwaukee radio host Doug Russell joined the Cook and Poni Show on Thursday with the latest rumblings they are hearing in regards to Pitt head Coach Paul Chryst being a candidate for the Wisconsin head coaching position.
"If Chryst wants it, it's his," Russell told the guys.
Russell points out that it's a destination type of job for Chryst and he fits all of the criteria that Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez will be looking for.
'I wouldn't put it much above 50 percent but I would say slight above 50 percent yes," Russell said. "It just seems to fit with all of the criteria that a successful coach at would Wisconsin would have not only from knowledge of the culture of the program, knowledge of Coach Alvarez, knowledge of the boosters but also the fact that I don't think anyone would think unless something crazy would happen that Paul Chryst would use the Wisconsin job as a stepping stone based on his own personal history as a kid who grew up in Madison."
The job is open after Gary Anderson left yesterday to take the head coaching position at Oregon State after only two years at Wisconsin.

Also joining 93-7 The FAN today was Phil Dawson of the Badger Radio Network.
Dawson joins the Starkey and Mueller Show and said he can definitely see Paul Chryst being one of the leading candidates for the head coaching vacancy.
"In my mind, absolutely, without question," Dawson said. Dawson did address Chryst's mixed results at Pitt and whether or not that will hurt his chances. "The only thing we worry about in terms of how good of a head coach is he, some of the things he's had to deal with at Pitt maybe haven't given him the best opportunity to showcase that, but we know what a great offensive coordinator he is."
Whether or not Chryst is one of the leading candidates for the job, Dawson added, "I think he's number one on the list, he's certainly number one on the list in my book, definitely a top candidate."
