'Milk Truck' 1 Step Closer To Reality
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The creators of the "Milk Truck" say they've surpassed their goal and are one step closer to helping Pittsburgh moms.
The truck would be used as a mobile breastfeeding station for women who feel like they are being discouraged or harassed for breastfeeding in public.
Jill Miller envisioned wanted to buy an ice cream truck and outfit it with a giant breast on the roof.
Project manager Tara McElfresh said they will lay down a rug, set up chairs under an awning on the side of the truck, and if the mother still needs to, she can nurse outside in an environment of support.
Miller was trying to raise $10,000 to make the project a reality through pledges at a site called Kickstarter.com.
Once completed, the truck is scheduled to be part of an exhibit starting in September at the Andy Warhol Museum.
