Portable Meth Lab Found In Cooler On Indiana Co. Road
BLAIRSVILLE (KDKA) - A disturbing discovery was made on the side of the road in Indiana County.
According to state police, they found a portable meth lab inside a cooler on Route 22 near Blairsville on Tuesday.
"Well, we've been finding most recently is people are making these labs portable," State Trooper Steve Limani said. "They're putting them in what would be construed as a cooler or some type of container, but a cooler is often how they're transported."
Authorities removed the contents from the roadway and are now investigating.
"The only two logical explanations that we would be able to come up with were that someone was either nervous or if it was some kind of delivery where someone was trying to drop this off and another person was going to pick it up," Limani said.
The cooler was found by two truck drivers around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. One of them was a former police officer.
The cooler was missing two ingredients. Had all of the materials been present, the portable lab could have produced about $3,000 worth of meth.
Police say they were able to pull off some fingerprints from the cooler. No arrests have been made at this time.
