Mercer County Man Facing Charges In Sexual Assault Of Boy
MERCER (KDKA) -- State police say a Mercer County man is in jail, charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy.
According to investigators, 27-year-old Jonathan Root was arrested on Monday and arraigned.
He is facing a list of charges including four counts of rape of a child and four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, as well as counts of aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and sexual abuse of children.
Authorities say the incidents happened between 2009 and 2012 in Delaware Township.
He is being held in the Mercer County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
State police say a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 20.
