Mercer Co. Father And Son Charged In Sex Abuse Case
MERCER COUNTY (KDKA) --- Police in Mercer County have charged a 60-year old man and his 22-year old son with sexually abusing a teenage girl with cerebral palsy.
Christopher Atkinson, and his son, Aaron, face corruption of minor and indecent assault-related charges.
The girl is now 15, and she and her mother live in Texas.
"Just to think that they did something in the house that they own that's right up the road from me, it just gives me chills," says neighbor Maxanne Reed.
The abuse allegedly took place when the girl was living at a home in Lackawannock Township.
The Atkinsons were caretakers during the alleged abuse.
Neighbor Ingrid Wozniak says the Atkinsons kept to themselves.
"Once in a while, we see them out riding bikes because the boy doesn't even drive," Wozniak says.
The Atkinson's were released from custody, pending a court appearance later this month.
