Melancon Eases Way Into Pirates' Bullpen
LAKELAND, Fla. (94-7 THE FAN) -- Newcomer Mark Melancon not only lockers between the more outgoing Jared Hughes and Jason Grilli but could end up pitching between them in late-game situations.
After a 1-2-3 inning against the top of the Detroit order in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers, Melancon says he's fitting in nicely with his new teammates.
He says he may have a few jokes in store, especially for Grilli, despite his soft spoken nature.
"I use that to my advantage," Melancon smiles.
