Meadows Casino Evacuated After Power Failure
WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- The Meadows Casino was evacuated Friday night and players left without their payouts because of a power failure.
A transformer blew, killing the power to the slot machines and the casino's security system.
Witnesses say the lights stayed on. Then an announcement was made for people to evacuate.
"We tried to cash out our machine and we got a note that said, 'Call Attendant,'" Don, a gambler, said. "So then they said everybody had to evacuate, state law, and from there it was just goofy."
The players who still had money in the machines were asked to stay seated.
Casino officials went around and got everyone's phone numbers and planned to contact them once the power situation was resolved so they could collect their winnings.
