Mike McQueary: 'The Whole Process Has To Play Out'
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- New details are emerging about what a key witness in the Penn State child sex abuse scandal did or did not do.
CBS News spoke briefly with assistant coach Mike McQueary on his porch.
CBS' Armen Keteyian: Do you have any idea when you think you might be ready to talk?
Mike McQueary: This process has to play out. I just don't have anything else to say.
Keteyian: Okay. Just one last thing. Just describe your emotions right now.
McQueary: Ah. All over the place. Just kind of shaken.
The grand jury presentment states that when McQueary allegedly saw Jerry Sandusky raping a boy in the shower. He was, "shocked, but noticed that both Victim 2 and Sandusky saw him. The graduate assistant left immediately, distraught."
Now, in an e-mail obtained by the Associated Press, McQueary writes that he stopped the alleged assault and also went to police about it.
"I am getting hammered for handling this the right way... or what I thought at the time was right," writes McQueary. "I had to make tough impacting quick decisions."
In an e-mail obtained by NBC News, McQueary writes, "I made sure it stopped. I did the right thing.. You guys know me."
Keteyian also spoke with the attorney for one of the alleged victims about what their client had gone through.
Keteyian: Can you characterize the kind of abuse your client allegedly sustained?
Ben Andreozzo: Severe.
Keteyian: Severe? Over a number of years?
Andreozzo: Over a period of time, he suffered severe sexual abuse. Mr. Sandusky built a relationship with my client and I believe that he used that relationship with The Second Mile program and with the university to his advantage so he could essentially stalk and prey on these victims, including my client.
In an NBC interview on Monday, Sandusky said McQueary did not witness a sexual assault. However, Sandusky did admit to showering with boys.
"I have hugged them, and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact," said Sandusky.
Keteyian added that McQueary is concerned for his personal safety and for the future of his coaching career.
