McLouth Homers Pirates To 6-5 Victory Against Red Sox
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Nate McLouth hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday for a 6-5 win over Boston.
Alex Presley hit an infield single and McLouth followed with a blast to right field for the lead and eventual game-winning run.
Matt Hague also homered for the Pirates in the third inning off Boston starter Jon Lester. His was a two-run homer and gave the Pirates a 4-1 lead.
Pirates starting pitcher Kevin Correia had a bit of a rough outing, allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings of work.
Reliever Evan Meek earned the win. He allowed a solo home run in the top of the seventh but was otherwise spotless in two innings.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Pirates (7-10). They return to the diamond at 1 p.m. today against Tampa Bay.
