Police Detain 2 People, Seek 3rd Person In Connection To McKeesport Homicide
MCKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Police have arrested two people after finding the vehicle sought in connection to a woman's body that was discovered Thursday in a McKeesport park.
Police say they're looking for 26-year-old Ramonta Yancey in connection to the homicide.
The Chevrolet Impala was found in a Walmart in South Strabane Township, Washington County, and two individuals were detained. They are searching for a third person that fled the scene.
KDKA's Lindsay Ward Reports:
McKeesport Police and Allegheny County Police were called to a scene in Renzie Park around 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
They say a man walking his dog discovered a body in the woods.
Investigators cordoned off part of the parking lot as they investigated. They then determined that the victim may have died somewhere other than the park and was transported there via a vehicle.
Allegheny County Police Insp. Andy Schurman described the scene.
"Looks like she was possibly dragged in from the parking lot into the wooded area," he said. "There is a trail that runs behind the wooded area. The person that actually discovered her was on the trail. We believe she was placed here, not here using drugs and died, rather she died somewhere else and brought here by vehicle."
According to police, the woman's body was found fully clothed and a preliminary examination of the body showed signs of strangulation. They will perform an autopsy Friday to determine the official cause of death.
Anyone with information is asked to call Allegheny County Police tip line 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
