McConnell-Serio: Players Had Focus, Energy In Upset Of N. Carolina
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pitt Women's Basketball head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio joined Bob Pompeani Saturday after their 84-59 win Thursday over No. 8 North Carolina.
McConnell-Serio said that her team rebounded well after a tough loss at home against top 10 Louisville.
"There was a focus, there was an energy, and a belief that if we play well, that we can compete and we can give ourselves a chance to beat North Carolina. I never would have anticipated a 25-point win, but our players have been amazing, they really have," McConnell-Serio said.
McConnell-Serio said that her players have really bought into what the coaching staff is preaching.
"The one thing about this team is they're fearless and they just believe that they can compete with anyone. We respect every team but they fear no one and just go out and play hard and just want to give themselves a chance to win. So they're buying in to what we're doing and it's all about confidence right now for us," McConnell-Serio said.
