Matt Cooke Show: 'Never A Bad Time' To Win 13 Straight
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Penguins winger Matt Cooke joins Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan's Ron Cook for his weekly chat.
The Pens have won 13 straight, and it all started with a 7-6 overtime win at Montreal. But in Pittsburgh's most recent meeting with the Canadiens, the Penguins came away with a tight 1-0 victory.
"I think we all expected a different game," Cooke said. "We've made some changes to the way we approach the game since that day in Montreal, and since then we've won games in all different ways. We weren't happy with the way we were playing, so we tried to change and be more focused with the puck."
As for the streak itself, Cooke said, "We haven't thought about it. We've enjoyed each win as they come and quickly moved on to the next game. I think that's what's most important. We need to make sure that come playoff time we're playing the right way. To do that, we need to quickly move on and get to the next game."
Cooke got into it with Montreal's Brian Gionta and took a roughing minor early in the third period last night.
"I wasn't going out there trying to take a penalty, but it wasn't a stupid penalty," Cooke said. "A message needed to be sent that this is our team, and we're gonna care for each other."
