Marshawn Lynch On Kaepernick: 'Rather See Him Take Knee Than Put His Hands Up, Get Murdered'
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Retired NFL star Marshawn Lynch is standing up for 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem.
Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch appeared on the Conan O'Brien show Tuesday night telling O'Brien that "they got to start somewhere."
Lynch told Conan on Kaepernick's decision, "I'd rather see him take a knee than stand up, put his hands up, and get murdered."
Marshawn went on to tell Conan, "If you're really not racist, then you won't see what he's doing as a threat to America but just addressing a problem that we have."
Lynch's comments echo what Steelers guard Ramon Foster told 93.7 The Fan on Tuesday.
Following the murder of an unarmed black man in Oklahoma, Foster told The Fan Morning Show, "It's a harsh reality that I've thought about. It's sad that I have to think about those things. And it just has to have more consequences to those types of situations that show up. It's unfair. If a person is in that situation were to feel threatened, then call more backup. Don't resort to pulling your weapon and shooting. I have two kids and a wife. I have family and friends that I'm here for also."
