Marathon Bombing Leaves Boston Stunned, But Vowing Not To Be Defeated
BOSTON (KDKA) -- Boylston Street and the marathon finish line have become Boston's Ground Zero.
Bostonians spent the day on Tuesday visiting the site that has changed their city forever.
"We just have a sense of being drawn to this place, not as a voyeur, but just as somebody to… just somehow, some small way support all the pain and suffering they've gone through," said Charles Bene, of Boston.
Some came to bear witness; others brought coffee and doughnuts to the guards on duty.
"I appreciate just everything that's going on here," said David Maxgivens, a Boston resident.
Christie Villume was out of town on Monday when the explosions happened, but came down Tuesday night to see it for herself.
"It's like a warzone down here," she said. "It's unreal."
While Tuesday was for mourning, there was no doubting their resolve.
"It's tough, but I have no doubt looking at the people here, the signs and the support, that we'll be back up and going as quickly as possible," added Rob Day, another Boston resident.
"Whoever may have done this, I just hope that next year there's twice as many runners, three times as many spectators and we'll be back as strong as ever," Bene said.
The city of Boston has been stunned by this attack, and Tuesday has rightfully been a day of mourning, but they are resolved there not to be defeated by terrorism.
