Man Watches Pickup Truck Roll Into Yough River, Crews Called To Remove Submerged Vehicle

MCKEESPORT (KDKA) –Emergency crews were called to McKeesport after a pickup truck rolled into the Yough River Monday morning.

According to officials, the incident happened around 10 a.m. at a dock near Atlantic Avenue.

The driver backed his truck up to the dock and got out. However, the truck continued to roll into the river.

The truck is currently submerged in about eight feet of water, which poses a risk to boats that would be trying to dock.

"Because of the truck's height - it's partially sticking out of the water - we want to be able to get that truck out of the water before a boat comes over the top, because a boat coming over not being able to see it right up front may cause some significant damage to the bottom of the boat," Michael Johnson, of the Fish and Game Commission, said.

Divers from Monroeville have been called in to hook tow lines up to the truck in order for it to be pulled out. The process could take up to four hours.

One other concern is while the truck is submerged, it could leak gas or oil.

No injuries have been reported.
