Man Wanted In Connection With 2 Bank Robberies Turns In Self
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - A man has surrendered to police and been jailed on charges that he robbed two Pittsburgh-area banks earlier this month.
Pittsburgh police say 33-year-old Jeffrey Schrott, of Coraopolis surrendered Sunday.
Schrott was wanted for two robberies, one taking place July 7 and the other July 13. After allegedly robbing the First Niagara Bank in Coraopolis last week, Schrott robbed the Citizens Bank in the Wharton Square Giant Eagle on the South Side.
City and Allegheny County Police say Schrott confessed to the robberies.
Police say Schrott handed the Citizens Bank teller a note that said he had a gun and wanted $100 and $50 bills with no dye pack in the money.
Online court records don't list an attorney for Schrott who has a preliminary hearing July 29.
