Man Wanted For Shooting At Car In 2014 Road Rage Incident Turns In Self
NEW SEWICKLEY (KDKA) – A man wanted for shooting at a vehicle during a New Sewickley road rage incident in 2014 has surrendered.
Just after 9 a.m., 39-year-old Alan Larimer Jr. arrived at the magistrate's office to turn himself in. An hour later, he was escorted back out in handcuffs and taken to jail.
"The defendant confessed to the incident. Advised that he is the one that fired the shot into the vehicle because he was frustrated at the vehicle's passing him on Route 68," New Sewickley Police Chief Ronald Leindecker said.
It was a long road to make the arrest and file charges.
According to police, the incident happened on Nov. 25, 2014. New Sewickley Police said Larimer shot at a car around 7 a.m. The female driver wasn't hurt and a few days later, saw the same vehicle and was able to give a license plate to police.
"They interviewed that person. They couldn't get a confession at that time. But, they did locate that the suspect had ownership of a .32-caliber gun, as used in the incident," Chief Leindecker said.
It took months for the ballistic results to come back. When they did get the results at the end of April, it was a match.
Police called Larimer back in, presented the evidence and Larimer confessed.
"He became emotional with vehicles passing him on Route 68. He got frustrated. With the last vehicle that passed him, he fired a shot at the vehicle," Chief Leindecker said.
Police say he doesn't have prior incidents, but he has a history of getting frustrated with other drivers.
"He does have cameras on the front of his vehicle and on the back of his vehicle. He does contact police for other aggressive drivers on the roadway. That's fine if he wants to do that, but don't take measures in his own hands," Chief Leindecker said. "It could have been a traumatic, detrimental incident."
Larimer was taken to the Beaver County Jail. He's facing charges, including a couple of counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
