Man To Face Trial After Road Rage Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The man accused of shooting another man in front of an Allegheny County office building will go on trial.
According to police, David Bush followed the victim and opened fire after a road rage incident in March.
Bush, a man with a long violent criminal past, was arrested once again for allegedly shooting a man in front of the Allegheny County Police headquarters in Point Breeze.
Witnesses said Bush opened fire, then walked away leaving the victim, a county employee, bleeding on the sidewalk.
"This is the clearest case of self-defense I've ever seen. I've tried many aggravated assault cases. This is clearly a self-defense case," defense attorney Phillip DiLucente said.
DiLucente said Bush was faced with a threat and was not the aggressor.
"Persons were charging at him and he felt threatened," DiLucente said.
Bush made bail on those charges, but soon found himself in trouble with the law again in June in Larimer.
Bush was shot by police after a lengthy standoff at the home of a female acquaintance.
"I can only tell you he did call me before it happened and said police were outside. I suggested to him he go outside and surrender. The next thing I know, he was shot numerous times by the police," defense attorney James Ecker said.
However, police said Bush walked outside and opened fire with a shotgun. His rounds hit a police car, but police rounds hit Bush.
The trial for the road rage incident is set for January.
Meanwhile, he remains in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 cash bond for the standoff incident.
