Man To Face Trial After Road Rage Incident
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Subhash Modhwadia, 44, finally had his day in court after a postponement to find an interpreter.
Modhwadia is charged in a road rage incident last month at the BP Station on Banksville Road.
He was riding his moped when he felt that another car cut him off. Both vehicles pulled into the gas station, with Modhwadia allegedly yelling at the other driver, "You almost hit me!"
That driver was Carla Snyder who is the wife of injured Pittsburgh Pirate catcher Chris Snyder.
"I didn't know what his intentions were so that's kind of scary. I had my family in the car, my husband's hurt," Carla said.
Even so, with their two kids in the back seat, ages 4 and 6, Chris Sndyer did get out telling Modhwadia to move.
"It was just a weird situation. Everything was happening so fast," Chris Snyder said.
Carla Snyder testified that Modhwadia's anger escalated and that he began kicking their vehicle and punched the side mirror off.
That's when Good Samaritan Joe Changle got involved telling Modhwadia to back away. He then tackled the man to the ground.
Witnessing the fracas, off-duty police officer Arthur Baker rolled into the station. He identified himself as an officer and told Modhwadia to get up.
The man remained combative and threw his shoe. He was then arrested.
Modhwadia was held for trial on aggravated assault on a police officer, simple assault and other misdemeanor charges.
He remains in the Allegheny County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
