NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – A man attempted to flee a traffic stop, crashed into another car, then had to be tased for resisting arrest in New Castle late Friday night.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers attempted to pull a driver over for DUI near Mitchell Road shortly before midnight Friday. Andrew Boots, 37, failed to stop and almost struck two police cars head-on. After the crash, police say Boots resisted arrest and they had to subdue him with a taser. Both Boots and the driver of the other car were sent to Jameson Hospital with "minor to moderate" injuries.
Boots was later placed in Lawrence County Jail. Police say he faces a number of charges, including fleeing police, DUI and resisting arrest, and at least 12 traffic citations.
