Man Steals Car, Hits Owner, Crashes After Fleeing From Burglary
WARREN COUNTY (KDKA) -- Police arrested one man and are searching for two more in connection to an attempted burglary that took place at a Pleasant Township home Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened at the victim's home in the 3300-block of Pleasant Drive around 4:15 p.m.
According to police, the victim came home to find three black male suspects burglarizing his house. Two of the suspects fled on foot, but the victim held the third -- later identified as 26-year-old Lasheam Steward, of Buffalo, NY -- at gunpoint.
Police say Steward eventually fled from the house and stole a truck from a second victim, a man who lives nearby. The second victim got into another vehicle and chased Steward down Sill Valley Road. When Steward got to the road's dead end, he crashed the truck, assaulted the other driver and stole the other vehicle. As he attempted to drive away, he hit the second victim with the vehicle and then crashed.
Steward fled from the scene on foot and was later caught on Pleasant Drive near Drumcliffe Drive after police received reports of a suspicious person in the neighborhood.
The second victim was flown to a hospital in Erie. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
Steward was sent to the Warren County Jail and has been charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and criminal conspiracy.
Police are still searching for the two other suspects. Both suspects are black males. One was last seen wearing black clothing. The other was last seen wearing jeans and a blue-and-white striped shirt. Anyone who sees any suspicious activity in the area where the burglary took place should contact police.
