Police Look For Motive In McKees Rocks Murder
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are looking for a motive in the fatal shooting of a young father in McKees Rocks.
"He was an innocent man – never harmed nobody," a neighbor said.
Robert "Louie" McGhee, 25, was no stranger at the Meyers Ridge Housing Complex. He'd once lived here and his children still did.
Thursday, he dropped his two daughters, Jaylen, 6, and Jaslyn, 4, off at their mother's. The girls had been at their grandfather's birthday party.
Later, McGhee returned to visit a friend on nearby Edgar Way leaving by the back door around 11:30 p.m. He got in his car, started it and was hit by multiple gun shots – dying almost instantly.
"And then the cops came and said somebody was dead in the back," a neighbor said.
"Right now, we're asking for anybody who saw any or all of the events surrounding the shooting to call us – call the county police homicide unit," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.
"Shocking – very shocking," Ronnesha Lewis, one of McGhee's co-workers, said. "He wasn't into gangs. He was the type of person – you had to love him."
For the past two years, McGhee worked as a school van driver for Lewis, one of Louie MaGhee's co-workers at Roenigk Transportation. He was working on a license to drive the big buses.
Yevette Williams says no one can figure out what anyone would want to shoot him.
"Don't understand that. He was like a son to me," Williams said. "We're a family down here and we're all just broken up over it."
Louie's co-workers are planning a vigil for 8 p.m. Saturday at the site where he died.
