Man Shot During Attempted Robbery In Highland Park
HIGHLAND PARK (KDKA)- A man is recovering, after being shot twice during an attempted robbery in Highland Park.
Around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a shooting in the 5600 block of Wellesley Avenue.
When they arrived, they found a man with two gunshot wounds to the back. He was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
"According to initial details of the investigation, we know the victim was walking home," said Pittsburgh Police spokeswoman Sonya Toler. "He was approached by two actors. They attempted to rob him and he refused to hand over his belongings. He ended up getting shot twice in the back."
The two suspects were wearing grey hooded-sweatshirts and took off down Wellesley Avenue towards North Highland Avenue after the shooting.
"We don't have a better description than that at the time. But, we may have some good surveillance video," said Toler.
Police are reviewing that surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspects. So far, no arrests have been made.
