Man Shot By Police After Fleeing Traffic Stop, Ignoring Commands
FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) – A man was shot multiple times by police after trying to flee from officers and damaging cars and private property in the process.
Police say it began late Friday night in Brownsville when they spotted a truck matching the description of one belonging to someone with a warrant out for their arrest.
But officers say when they tried to pull over 40-year-old Travis Musgrave,he sped off driving through the yard of a home on Clover Street.
While turning his truck around, an officer got out of his car and tried to get Musgrave to stop and get out of the truck.
Instead, Musgrave accelerated toward the officer, prompting the officer to shoot at his truck. After the truck was shot, it hit the officer's car, which also had his K-9 inside.
Musgrave then backed up the truck, hitting the home and causing significant damage, according to police.
"He plowed in, pushed the car, my wife's car, my truck into the neighbor's car and he just wouldn't stop and police were on him, he just kept going," said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.
When police say Musgrave still wouldn't listen to their commands, they shot at him, hitting him in the left hand and shoulder.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Neighbors say they think the chase with police is connected to a dispute with Musgraves' girlfriend, who they say lives nearby.
