Search Continues For Shooter Who Killed Man, 23, In Homewood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The search continues for the shooter who killed a man in Homewood Monday evening.

Police were called to the 1100 block of Wheeler Street around 6:20 p.m.

Early Tuesday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 23-year-old Walli Hardy, of Homewood.

According to investigators, Hardy was visiting a neighbor when he was shot multiple times in the kitchen or dining room area of the home.

"Right now, we haven't determined who all was in the house, but there was at least one other person there the time of the shooting," said Sonya Toler, of the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.

Hardy was shot multiple times and he was pronounced dead at the scene just before 6:40 p.m.

Officials say they believe the suspect ran away from the scene.

"There were officers responding to the scene who were called in another direction because there may have been sighting of someone who was fleeing," said Toler. "You never know what you're going to come across at a shooting scene. They may be running because they are trying to reach some sort of safety for themselves."

Investigators are interviewing several witnesses to see if they can develop a description of the suspect.

So far, no arrests have been made.
