Young Man Killed In Overnight Brighton Heights Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place overnight in Pittsburgh's Brighton Heights neighborhood.
"I heard a bunch of rapid fire gunshots. Must have been about seven or eight shots," a neighbor who wanted to remain unnamed said.
According to police, officers responded to the 1700 block of Termon Avenue just after 2 a.m.
Several 911 calls were made to report the gunfire.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 20-year-old Jaylen Johnson of Pittsburgh. He had been shot in the chest.
"He was found inside the doorway of a residence," Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said.
The unidentified neighbor said shootings usually start up during the spring and summer.
"A lot of the time over by Miller's. I've heard gunshots come from that way, but most of the shots I heard are up on Brighton Road that way," the neighbor said. "Maybe four or five times a week I hear gunshots going."
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police said their investigation is ongoing. They have not released any information on a suspect or suspects.
