Man Killed In Fiery Crash In Indiana County
INDIANA, Pa. (KDKA) -- Officials in Indiana County say a man was killed Thursday night when an SUV slammed into his pickup truck causing a fiery crash.
The Indiana County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 55-year-old Cyold Ribblet, Jr., of Center Township. The accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. along Route 286 Highway West near the Hilltop Baptist Church.
According to the coroner's office, Ribblet was headed westbound in his pickup when a Ford Explorer missed a curve in the road and crossed the center line of the highway.
The SUV hit Ribblet's truck head-on. Officials say Ribblet's vehicle then became engulfed in flames.
Ribblet was pronounced dead at the scene just before 10:30 p.m. Officials with the coroner's office say he died of severe multiple blunt force trauma.
The driver of the SUV was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released his condition or identity.
State police are investigating the cause of the accident.
