Alleged domestic dispute, confrontation with police leads to man being shot by Pittsburgh police officer

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man was shot in the leg during an incident involving Pittsburgh police on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh police were dispatched to the 4900 block of Kincaid Street just after 11 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman who was assaulted during a domestic dispute.

At 11:11 a.m., an officer arrived on the scene and encountered an armed male outside the residence. The male fired multiple rounds at an officer, according to a media release from Allegheny County police.

One officer returned fire, striking the male multiple times. The man was transported to an area hospital and was last listed in stable condition, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

The woman suffered facial injuries during the initial assault, county police added.

Pittsburgh Police Chief Larry Scirotto and Allegheny County Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns were called to the scene as the investigation got underway, according to KDKA-TV's Chris Hoffman.
