Man Injured, Facing Charges In Overnight Chase
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured and is facing charges following an overnight police pursuit on Pittsburgh's South Side that ended in the Armstrong Tunnel.
According to authorities, police tried to pull over the motorcycle around 12:30 a.m. on South 12th Street for allegedly driving at a high rate of speed.
However, police say the driver instead took off.
The chase lasted around 15 minutes, eventually crossing over the 10th Street Bridge and entering the Armstrong Tunnel.
Authorities say that's where the motorcyclist lost control and crashed.
Officials say the driver suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. He has not been identified and there's been no update on his condition.
So far, police are not sure why he did not pull over.
He will reportedly face charges once he is released from the hospital.
