Man Found Guilty Of Rape Sentenced To 61-122 Years In Prison
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The man convicted last month in the rape of three women in Ross and Hopewell Townships was back in court today.
The judge sentenced Arthur Henderson to 61 to 122 years in prison.
Henderson seemed astonished that he'd face the prospect of life in prison when asked if he had anything to say to Judge Donna Jo McDaniel
"Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be in this position," he said. "I ask God to have mercy on me for any sins that I may have committed. I ask, judge, that you treat me fairly. I pray that anyone I might have offended that you accept an apology."
At trial, not only his DNA was introduced, but evidence he stocked victims at the casino, for example, and stole ATM cards after a rape.
The victims targeted him in their victim impact statements.
Victim 1 said: "I didn't invite him. He chose to come into my house and take my will and sense of security. You can't see the emotional and spiritual wounds. I'm dealing with the stench and the residue of Arthur Henderson."
Victim 2 said: "I am not a statistic or a piece in a news story. On Jan. 7, 2012, I experienced hell. I was tortured and imprisoned in my own home. I have suffered immensely from the selfish acts of a violent person."
Victim 3 said: "After being held against my will, I no longer felt like a woman."
Henderson represented himself throughout the trial.
"I thought the victims, as they were during the trial, were absolutely amazing," said Laura Ditka, the prosecutor. "They showed such courage and grace and dignity in such an undignified situation and they did more description than I could ever do and I think the sentence is fair and just. He'll never get out."
