19-Year-Old Man Found Fatally Shot In Vacant Lot
HOMEWOOD (KDKA) -- Police spent hours looking for gun shells and other evidence in the 7100 block of Upland Street in Homewood.
Saturday morning, a 19-year-old John Davern from Beltzhoover was found dead in a vacant lot between two occupied homes.
"We believe that he may have actually been shot sometime after eleven o'clock last night," said Public Safety Spokesperson Sonya Toler.
Several neighbors said they were surprised because they didn't hear any gunshots overnight. It appears Davern was there for hours after he was was shot. Police showed up at the scene after a passerby noticed his body this morning and called 911.
No one knows why the man was in that neighborhood and or if he was trying to escape from his assailant at the time of the shooting.
