Seneca Valley Teacher Found Dead Inside Home
LANCASTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The death of a popular high school teacher has sent shockwaves through a local community.
Steven Russo, 48, was found dead on the kitchen floor of his Lancaster Township, Butler County home Wednesday.
Russo taught statistics at Seneca Valley High School.
Nick Maderia, a senior at Seneca Valley, said that Russo brought the real world into the classroom, incorporating March Madness and NFL playoffs into lessons.
Thomas Long, a Pitt student who graduated from Seneca Valley last year, said Russo always made class enjoyable and he was an excellent teacher. He added that Seneca Valley won't be the same.
State police were still at Russo's Perry Highway home dusting for fingerprints on the windows and doors Wednesday evening.
Police have not said how he died, but it is believed to be suspicious.
Devon Crocker, the daughter of the woman who lived with Russo, told reporters there had been a break-in earlier this week and Tuesday night.
Police have not confirmed that.
