Man Charged In Ross Twp. Hit & Run Waives Hearing
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The West View man facing charges in connection with an October hit and run accident that left a 72-year-old woman seriously injured appeared in court today.
Mathew Bomba, 24, waived his preliminary hearing this morning.
The accident happened when officials say the victim was crossing Babcock Boulevard on a night in late October after attending a private party at a nearby restaurant, Sieb's Pub.
Bomba was taken into custody in connection with the incident several days later by Avalon police. He told police he wasn't drunk - he was just scared.
The victim, Carol Reimer, said today that she is thankful because the situation could have turned out much worse.
"I was fortunate that it only happened… that my leg got hit by the car, the leg that was dragging, which was my right leg," said Reimer.
"I don't know how it ever happened," Peter Mahoney, Reimer's husband, said. "We never heard him, never saw him, nothing."
Reimer suffered a broken leg and needed some 40 stitches.
There is no word on when Bomba will face trial.
