Man Arrested In Robbery At North Shore Bank
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police have made an arrest in the robbery of the PNC Bank at PNC Park on Pittsburgh's North Shore last month.
Pittsburgh police say David Hipps from Beltzhoover was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon in connection with the April 8 incident.
Hipps is facing charges of robbery, false identification to law enforcement authorities, resisting arrest, escape and flight to avoid apprehension.
According to Pittsburgh police, on April 8, officers were called to the bank on Federal Street around 3:15 p.m.
Police say the suspect went into the bank and asked about opening an account, but is then accused of passing a note to the bank teller say that he had an explosive device strapped to his waist and leg.
The teller passed the man some cash and he ran from the bank toward the Sixth Street Bridge.
After his arrest, Hipps was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
