Former Semi-Pro Wrestler Arrested For Assaulting Woman, Officer
BELLE VERNON (KDKA) – A former semi-pro wrestler from the Pittsburgh area is facing charges after he allegedly put a woman in a headlock and then assaulted a police officer.
"I'm not denying that I was wrong," said 23-year-old Issac Lancaster Jr. of Fallowfield Township.
He was arrested Thursday morning for something that allegedly happened at a New Year's Eve Party.
"I was drunk. I did drink. I usually don't drink," said Lancaster to KDKA's David Highfield. "I've been depressed. I've been in a rut. That's not good mixing with alcohol - probably why I freaked out like I did."
Lancaster is accused of putting a woman in what's described in court papers as a "submission hold." She claims, according to the criminal complaint, that she passed out for about 10 minutes.
Then, police showed up.
"When they tried to subdue him, he assumed a wrestling stance and actually charged at the officers," said Chief John Hartman from the Southwest Regional Police force.
The six-foot, 270-pound Lancaster says he quit wrestling a year and a half ago. According to police, he was known as "Kid Lightning." He's still listed on Mon Valley Pro Wrestling's website.
Police say he kicked an officer in the face and chest, and they had to use a Taser on him to gain control. Once in an ambulance, they say he spit at them and they had to use the Taser again.
Lancaster is apologetic over what happened.
"I don't usually get like that. I do have a high respect for police officers," said Lancaster. "I wasn't right for doing what I did when I was drunk, but I don't remember most of it."
Lancaster was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned Thursday and released on bond.
