Man Arrested Following Police Chase, Crash In Edgewood
EDGEWOOD (KDKA) – One man is in custody after leading police on a chase and injuring two woman in a crash Wednesday morning.
According to police, the chase started in Wilkinsburg and ended in Edgewood.
The suspect has been identified as Kevin Rucker, who was on the U.S. Marshals' Most Wanted list.
Police watched him exit a home on Hill Avenue and get into a vehicle. At that time, they tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Rucker took off around 10 a.m.
The pursuit went from Hill Avenue, onto Ardmore Boulevard and eventually onto the Parkway East. Rucker got off the Parkway at the Edgewood/Swissvale exit.
Very dangerous chase," said Wilkinsburg Police Officer Doug Yuhouse. "Very high speed chase, running down the side of the road, passing cars on the right and left, total disregard for public safety."
At that time, Rucker crashed into a vehicle with two female occupants.
Both women were treated by medics. There's no word on their conditions, but officials said there were no serious injuries.
Rucker suffered a minor injury in the crash and was taken into custody. He was found with an unknown amount of heroin and $900 in cash.
He is facing a list of charges including, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing or attempting to elude police and resisting arrest.
For Wilkinsburg Police, it was a big deal to get this guy.
"When you hear he's on the most wanted list; obviously, the hair stands up on the back of your neck and you pay a little more attention," said Yuhouse.
