Man Arrested, Charged In Hempfield Twp. Road Rage Incident

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man has been arrested after police say he beat up a driver in an allegedly road rage incident in Westmoreland County.

Police say it happened at the intersection of Wencliff Lane and Penn Adamsburg Road in Hempfield Township.

Andrew Forish told police a pickup truck cut him off, so he followed it, trying to get the license plate number.

But then the truck driver, identified as 33-year-old David Shenefelt, suddenly stopped.

"This person slammed their breaks, got out of their vehicle, went to the passenger side, opened up the door and went into the victim's vehicle and started to assault him, started to punch him several times in the face," said Trooper Steve Limani, of Pennsylvania State Police.

Police say Shenefelt apologized and then took off.

The victim did get the license plate, which helped police make the arrest.

When troopers showed up at Shenefelt's home he told them, "I made a big mistake."

He is charged with simple assault and making terrorist threats.

And, despite being allegedly attacked, Forish is okay.
