Man Arrested After Lawrence Co. Police Chase
NEW CASTLE (KDKA) - A man was arrested after leading police on a chase in Lawrence County Tuesday night.
According to police, the incident is believed to have started as a result of an argument between a man and two women around 10:45 p.m. in New Castle.
The suspect was upset over his current girlfriend speaking with an ex-girlfriend and rammed a stolen pickup truck into two vehicles in the parking lot at 16 West Long Avenue.
The suspect, Gary Jones Jr., then chased his current girlfriend and her two kids down an alley in the truck in an attempt to hit them. They were able to escape into the woods and were not injured.
Another man attempted to help the woman and her children and was struck by the truck in the right thigh and also had his foot run over.
Gary Jones Jr. fled the scene and refused to pull over for police.
He was finally arrested around 11:30 p.m. in Ellwood City, Wayne Township after officers boxed in the vehicle in a mobile home park.
However, Jones Jr. did not cooperate with officers and was Tased twice while being taken into custody.
He is facing a list of charges including, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Jones Jr. also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. He is now being lodged in the Lawrence County Prison.
