Man Arraigned After Allegedly Shooting At Girlfriend & Family
LEMONT FURNACE (KDKA) - A man accused of firing a gun at his girlfriend and her family was arraigned in court on Monday.
However, a mother who lives nearby is expressing concern after the alleged incident.
Brittany Machesney heard the gunfire just outside the Lemont Furnace home where she lives with her four kids.
"Well, whenever I was outside, I did hear a gunshot and it scared [me]," Machesney said.
According to police, 25-year-old Chad Lowry got into an argument with his girlfriend inside their Kira Drive home and it quickly escalated.
Lowry is accused of shooting a rifle at his girlfriend, her mother and 2-year old daughter as the three tried to leave.
They weren't injured, but the bullet hit a vehicle.
"I didn't know if somebody got shot or what had happened," Machesney said.
People living on Kira Drive said this isn't the first time they've heard gunshots in their neighborhood.
They are now concerned for the safety of their children, who are playing so close to the violence.
"It's scary because what if they misfire and it could be one of my kids?" Machesney said.
Lowry was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment and placed in the Fayette County Jail.
