School Bus Window Shot Out In Penn Twp.
PENN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A 19-year-old was questioned Thursday evening after someone shot out the window of a school bus in Penn Township.
The shot was fired on Sunrise Drive around 3:20 p.m. Thursday. The bus was headed to Sunrise Elementary School.
Moments after police arrived, they found the 19-year-old with a gun in his hand.
"We were able to locate a rifle along with an individual that claims to be shooting that rifle in the area at the time of the event," Penn Township Police Chief John Otto said.
KDKA's Paul Martino reports:
A man who says he's the brother of the 19-year-old with the gun said it was a BB gun – not a rifle - and his brother didn't shoot the bus.
"My younger brother was arrested for supposedly shooting out a school bus window from 400 meters away which I believe is completely impossible," Ryan Skuta told KDKA-TV.
But Chief Otto says it's very possible.
"We definitely believe that the firearm we have in our possession is in fact a firearm that caused the damage to the school bus," he said.
Even so, police have not charged the 19-year-old and are continuing their investigation.
No students were on the bus at the time and no one was hurt.
