EAST HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Scottdale man is behind bars after state police say he attempted to break into a home armed with a baseball bat in Westmoreland County, but was hit in the head with a hammer by one of the homeowners.
The attempted burglary happened earlier this week, around 3 p.m. on Oct. 23, at a home in the 100-block of Valley Hi Lane in Ruffsdale, East Huntingdon Township.
According to state police, 48-year-old Sean Schrock tried to get into the home by kicking in the front door and also broke two windows with the bat.
Police say Schrock also used the bat to hit one of the women who lives in the house on her wrist.
The victim then hit Schrock in the head with a hammer, state police report.
