Man Accused Of Stealing Elderly Employer's Truck After Squabble

JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- Police are planning to charge a Jeannette man who stole a truck belonging to his employer.

John Lewis Jr., 38, was hired by a 77-year-old Greensburg man to fix up a rental property.

He was added to the man's auto insurance so he could run errands in the man's truck.

The two were at Naser's Market in Unity on Aug. 10 when they got into an argument about how the younger man was driving.

The victim went into the store. When he came out, Lewis and his Chevrolet Silverado were gone.

The victim tried repeatedly to reach Lewis, but his calls went unanswered.

Police gave the victim a ride home.

Hours later, Lewis was arrested at the Jeannette Police Station for a home invasion. He is also facing drug charges.

Police say he claimed to have walked to Jeannette, but had the victim's truck keys in his pocket.

The truck wasn't immediately found, but was later returned to the victim.

In addition to the charges out of Jeannette, Lewis will also be charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.

He was released on bond in the Jeannette case.
