Man Accused Of Setting House On Fire During Domestic Dispute
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A New Castle man is charged after allegedly setting his house on fire during a domestic dispute early Friday morning.
Police say they received a domestic dispute call around 12:40 a.m. from a woman who said that a man was dousing their Warner Alley house in gas in order to burn it down.
Once police arrived on scene, the house was on fire with heavy black smoke billowing out.
When police tried to determine if anyone was in the house, they say the man, Jason Merlini, said "leave me alone, I want to die."
Police then pulled Merlini out of the house. He was later taken to Jameson Hospital.
Merlini is charged with multiple counts, including arson, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.
