Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman, Carving Slur Into Her Back
TURTLE CREEK (KDKA) - A Turtle Creek man has been charged with sexually assaulting his former girlfriend.
According to the criminal complaint, 28-year-old Michael Decarolis was angry about her new boyfriend and threatened to strangle and murder her.
After agreeing to meet him one last time, police say she picked him up at his home and drove to her parents' house. No one was home at the time.
She said Decarolis dragged her into the living room, grabbed a knife and carved a "W" into her back. The report said he planned to carve more letters, but that's when he raped her.
After the attack, both of them got dressed and Decarolis reportedly told his victim to take him home. Once she dropped him off, the victim went to Forbes Hospital and Plum Police were notified.
Alison Hall, of Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, said a breakup can be a very dangerous time for a woman.
"Obviously, he feels this woman is his possession and that's very, very unfortunate. I hope she has the help and support she needs to get through this and we are available should she choose to reach out to us," Hall said.
Decarolis is facing a long list of charges, including rape, sexual assault, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint.
He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
