Man Accused Of Abducting Baby Arraigned Friday
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A baby abducted from Beaver County last night is safely at home with his mother.
The suspect, 27-year-old Alexander Frazier, was arraigned Friday on kidnapping and other charges.
On Thursday evening, the statewide Amber Child Abduction Alert went out.
Police in Beaver Falls were searching for 9-month-old Carter Speelman.
Alexander Frazier, 27, who says he's the baby's father, turned himself in, along with the child at the Beaver Falls Police Station around 10 p.m. They'd been missing for three hours.
"He was just so upset last night about it," said Jim Frazier, the suspect's brother.
Jim was with his brother at the police station and says Alex got a message from the boy's mother, Angela Lynn Speelman, inviting him to come see the baby at the grandmother's home in Morado Dwellings.
He showed up, took his boots off and started talking to her. She walked in the other room.
Jim says Alex was frustrated by the condition of the baby, feeling the mother was not taking the best care of the boy.
"I guess he didn't feel the conditions were right for the child, so at that time he acted," said Jim.
Alex told Jim he drove with Carter to a friend's house, less than two miles away. When he learned about the Amber Alert, he contacted police.
"It's been four months since he's seen the baby, and he's contacted her every day," said Jim.
KDKA was shown a handwritten notarized agreement between Alex and Angela setting up visitation with Carter. Alex also arranged for a DNA paternity test this past summer.
"The mother was there, the child was there, and my brother; altogether they took it," said Jim.
Teresa Davidson, Frazier's mother: "99.99 percent."
KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson: "But she denies it?
Davidson: "Yes, she does."
KDKA tried to speak with the baby's mother, Angela Speelman, but were turned away.
