July Hearing Set For Man Accused In Local Teen's Death
DURHAM, N.C. (KDKA) - A hearing for a man accused of killing a local teenager in North Carolina will be held next month.
On Thursday, 18-year-old Darrell Turner Jr. was shot and killed while touring colleges in Durham, N.C.
Police arrested 22-year-old Gabriel Gamez in connection with the crime.
Gamez is facing charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury.
Turner was a linebacker for Gateway High School and was on a trip with several other students from the area to visit colleges.
Gamez allegedly got into an altercation with several of the students in a shopping plaza parking lot.
During the altercation, he allegedly pulled out a gun and started shooting.
One of Turner's teammates was also shot in the leg.
The next scheduled hearing for Gamez will take place on July 18.
