Man Accused In Girlfriend's Stabbing Death Heads To Trial
UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A man accused in the stabbing death of his girlfriend inside of her Fayette County home is headed to trial.
Police say they found a chaotic scene when they went to the mobile home park in North Union Township late last month.
According to police, the whole thing started as a domestic dispute but quickly turned violent. They say it was a gruesome scene.
In late January, neighbors said they saw Henry Crawford try to force his way into his girlfriend's trailer.
When she wouldn't open the door, police say Crawford kicked it in and the incident escalated.
Investigators say the victim, 49-year-old Lisa Tupta, suffered several stab wounds and was also beaten.
She was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Crawford's mother was in court Wednesday morning for his preliminary hearing. She spoke briefly.
"He seems like he's trying to do pretty good," Crawford's mother said. "I'm sorry everything happened."
Crawford is heading to trial on criminal homicide charges.
Police say he has a long criminal history, including drug and DUI related arrests, aggravated and simple assault, disorderly conduct, as well as fighting and terroristic threats.
