Man, 20, Facing Charges In Church Burglary
ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - At a time when congregations are focused on giving, police say one Ross Township man was more focused on taking.
Ross police arrested 20-year-old Alex Zintchenko. He is accused of burglarizing St. Sebastian Church on Seibert Road on Thursday morning.
According to investigators, Zintchenko allegedly broke into the church, tried to steal some audio equipment and then tried to break into a safe that contained valuable religious artifacts.
After failing to pry it open, detectives say the suspect went home and returned to the church with his own tools.
Parish workers told investigators they caught Zintchenko in the act. They detained him until police arrived.
He is in the Allegheny County Jail on charges of burglary and attempted theft.
