Mall Not Only Place To Cash In On Black Friday Deals In Westmoreland Co.
GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- Not all the Black Friday madness was overnight and early this morning.
At the Westmoreland County Mall in Greensburg, shoppers have been at it since midnight; but the mall isn't the only place to cash in on Black Friday deals.
When you think of Black Friday, you probably think of the mall.
"I've been to my car already, so I had some good buys at Macy's, my favorite store," said Ruth Tolbert, a shopper.
A place where Black Friday is quite literally a shop till you drop kind of day, but employees have no choice but to stay on their feet even those who have been at work since 4 a.m.
"It's part of the job, you gotta be here; you gotta feed your children," said Javin Christian, a Verizon employee.
At Best Buy, electronics were still a big draw late Friday afternoon. One young shopper says he saved nearly $100 on an Xbox 360.
"Come in later, it's easier to get stuff," said Brando Seybold, another Black Friday shopper.
And here's another Black Friday deal that's nothing to bark at. The Action for Animals Humane Society in Derry Township is offering 50 percent off of all animals over a year old until 9 p.m.
"It just promotes dogs that have been in our shelter for a while," said Luann Hutcheson, of the Action for Animals Humane Society. "It gets them home and it enables me to go next week to kill shelters and bring us new dogs in and start all over again."
Trooper came to the shelter back in August after being hit by a car. He has something extra to be thankful for this weekend because he's finally getting a new home.
But there are plenty of others waiting for their happy ending, too.
Meanwhile, at Tractor Supply Company in Mount Pleasant, managers opted to open early because the line was so long. They let shoppers in at 5:30 a.m. instead of 6 a.m. to get them out of the cold.
So, whether you're shopping at the mall or somewhere else, if you are willing to brave the crowd, you will save money.
